āš–ļø
Augusta Walnut/Camel vs Augusta Mahogany/Red — what's the difference? Both are 8-ft Augusta tables at $2,299. The Mahogany/Red version has a traditional mahogany melamine finish with red felt — classic, warm, and familiar. The Walnut/Camel version goes further: solid maple hardwood rails (not melamine), maple veneer cabinet with a UV-cured antique walnut finish, ball-and-claw legs, diamond inlaid sights, and camel felt with matching shield pockets. The Walnut/Camel is the higher-specification build — same price, more furniture-grade detail. Choose Mahogany/Red if you want bold colour contrast. Choose Walnut/Camel if you want the most refined piece in the lineup.
šŸ’” Solid maple hardwood rails, a UV-cured multi-step furniture finish, bolt-through rail anchoring, finger-jointed support beams, and ball-and-claw legs — these are the construction details found on pool tables costing $4,000–$8,000. At $2,299 with free shipping, the Augusta Walnut offers genuinely fine furniture quality at a fraction of what a true cabinet-maker's table would cost.

Why the Augusta Walnut

The Most Refined Table in the Lineup

  • 🪵

Solid maple hardwood top rails — real wood, not laminate

The Augusta Walnut's 1-inch thick Ɨ 4.5-inch wide top rails are solid maple hardwood — not the laminated MDF rails found on most pool tables at this price point. Solid maple rails are denser, more resonant, and more durable than laminate alternatives. The wider 4.5-inch width gives the table a more substantial visual presence. These rails are the single biggest construction upgrade over standard tables in this category — and most buyers won't notice unless it's called out.

  • šŸ”©

Bolt-through rail anchoring system — the playfield and rails play as one

Most pool tables attach rails to the cabinet with screws from above. The Augusta uses a bolt-through, high-performance impact-resistant anchoring system that physically fuses the playfield and rails together as a single structural unit. The result is rails that don't shift, loosen, or deaden over time — and bank shots that stay predictable for the life of the table. This is a commercial-grade construction detail at a residential price point.

  • šŸ—ļø

Finger-jointed interlocking support beams with steel gussets — engineered rigidity

The cabinet interior uses finger-jointed, interlocking support beams — a joinery technique that creates stronger, more stable connections than simple butt joints. Powder-coated steel gusset plates connect the cabinet corners to the leg blocks and transition plates. The result is a table that doesn't flex, wobble, or develop racking over time. It's the kind of internal structure you don't see when you buy a table but feel every time you play on it.

  • šŸŽØ

UV-cured antique walnut finish on maple veneer — fine furniture standard

The cabinet is maple veneer over 1-inch engineered MDF, finished in a UV-cured multi-step antique walnut process. UV curing produces a harder, more scratch-resistant surface than standard lacquer or melamine — it's the same curing process used on high-end furniture. The deep walnut tone has warmth and depth that a single-coat melamine finish simply can't replicate. This is a cabinet that holds its finish for years rather than fading or chipping at the edges.

  • šŸ¦…

Ball-and-claw poly-resin legs with diamond inlaid sights — the details are the design

The intricately detailed ball-and-claw legs are poly-resin — allowing the kind of ornamental detail that would be prohibitively expensive in solid wood, while maintaining durability and consistency across all four legs. Inlaid diamond sights on the rails give players accurate reference points for bank shots and align visually with the table's traditional aesthetic. Together, these details make the Augusta Walnut look like it belongs in a library or a billiards room — not a game room corner.

  • šŸŽ±

Camel wool-blend felt with matching shield pockets — the full colour story

The camel-coloured, blended nylon/wool felt is matched by colour-coordinated deluxe shield pockets that run flush with the rail profile. Camel felt against an antique walnut cabinet is one of the most understated and elegant combinations in traditional billiards — it reads as warm, refined, and intentional. The wool blend plays smoothly and holds up significantly better than polyester alternatives under regular use.

Is This Right for You?

This Table Is Built For

The Augusta Walnut is the most furniture-grade table in our non-slate lineup. Here's who it's the right choice for:

šŸ›ļø

Traditional & formal interiors

Libraries, studies, formal game rooms, older homes with rich wood tones. The antique walnut finish and ball-and-claw legs belong in these spaces.

šŸŽØ

Warm neutral colour palettes

Caramel, cream, camel, tan, warm grey. The walnut-and-camel combination slots into warm interior palettes without requiring any additional decoration.

šŸ†

Buyers who want the best non-slate option

You've decided on MDF over slate — but you want the most refined construction available at this price. Solid maple rails, bolt-through anchoring, and a multi-step finish make this the top of the non-slate category.

šŸŽ

Centrepiece buyers

You want a pool table that guests comment on. The Augusta Walnut earns that reaction from traditional design enthusiasts in a way that contemporary black tables don't.

Not the right fit if: You prefer a modern or contemporary aesthetic — the ball-and-claw legs and antique walnut finish are traditional by design. If you want bold colour contrast (dark cabinet, bright felt), the Augusta Mahogany/Red or one of the Hustler tables will serve your room better. And if tournament-level slate play is the priority, you'd be looking at a different category entirely — this is the finest non-slate option available, not a substitute for slate.

Delivery

How Your Table Gets to You

At ~353 lbs, the Augusta Walnut ships via LTL freight on a pallet — not UPS or FedEx. Here's exactly what to expect:

1

Order placed → ships within 1–3 business days

Orders are processed quickly. You'll receive tracking and carrier details as soon as the table ships from the warehouse.

2

Freight carrier contacts you to schedule delivery

The carrier calls the phone number on your order to arrange a delivery appointment — typically a 4-hour window. Make sure your contact number is accurate at checkout.

3

Curbside delivery — table arrives on a pallet at your curb

The driver unloads the pallet at your driveway or curb. Standard delivery does not include carrying it inside. At ~353 lbs, plan to have two or three people available to move it from the curb to its final location.

4

Inspect before signing the delivery receipt

Walk the full shipment before signing. Note any damage — even to the packaging — on the receipt. Contact us immediately with photos if anything looks wrong. This step is critical for protecting your freight claim rights.

5

Assembly — approximately 75 minutes, tools included

All necessary tools and hardware are included. The two-component design (table top + legs) makes the process manageable. Most customers complete assembly in about 75 minutes with a helper. Take your time leveling — the 2-inch adjustable levelers make this straightforward, and a well-leveled table makes a meaningful difference in play quality.

Transit time: Most deliveries arrive within 7–14 business days after shipment depending on location and carrier schedule. We'll share an estimated window once your order ships.

Questions

Frequently Asked Questions

Both are 8-ft Augusta tables at the same price, but the Walnut/Camel is the higher-specification build. The key differences: the Walnut/Camel has solid maple hardwood top rails (the Mahogany/Red has standard rails); a UV-cured multi-step antique walnut fine furniture finish on maple veneer (vs mahogany melamine); ball-and-claw poly-resin legs with 2-inch levelers (vs standard legs); diamond inlaid sights (vs standard inlaid sights); camel felt with colour-matched shield pockets; and an aluminium bridge head and bridge stick included in the accessory kit. If fine furniture detail matters to you, this is the better build. If you want bold colour contrast between a dark cabinet and red felt, the Mahogany/Red delivers that more directly.
"Slatetronic" is Hathaway's designation for their engineered MDF playing surface — a 1-inch thick MDF panel fully supported by finger-jointed, interlocking support beams and powder-coated steel gussets. The surface is engineered to be as flat and stable as possible within the constraints of MDF construction. Slate tables ($4,000–$10,000+) offer a heavier, denser surface that is essentially impervious to warping and provides a marginally truer roll over decades of use. The Augusta's Slatetronic surface is an excellent recreational playing surface — flat, consistent, and well-supported. For serious competitive players, slate is the gold standard. For home recreational play, this surface performs very well.
The Augusta Walnut's overall footprint is approximately 100.5" Ɨ 55". For comfortable play with standard 57-inch cues (5 feet of clearance on each end and side), plan for a room of at least 13' Ɨ 17', ideally 14' Ɨ 18'. At 353 lbs, this table is not easily moved once assembled — measure your intended room carefully and ensure the table can navigate through all doorways and any staircases before ordering. If you're unsure about room clearance, contact us before ordering.
The 180-day warranty is Hathaway's standard across their recreational pool table line — this is consistent across all models in this category, not specific to the Augusta. In practice, manufacturing defects or damage that would be covered under warranty almost always appear within the first 60–90 days of use. If anything arrives damaged or defective, contact us immediately — we'll resolve it. For damage or issues arising after normal use over a longer period, Hathaway's parts are generally available for purchase. The table itself, with proper care, will outlast the warranty period by many years.
Two standout inclusions: the aluminium bridge head with a 2-piece bridge stick (most tables at this price include neither), and felt-matching camel cue chalk — a small touch that speaks to the level of finish attention on this table. The full kit includes two 57-inch 2-piece cues, 16 precision-engineered 2.25-inch billiard balls, the bridge head and bridge stick, a racking triangle, rail brush, and felt-matching chalk. Tools are also included for assembly, which is not always the case at this price point.
Every shipment is fully insured. Inspect the table and all components carefully before signing the delivery receipt. If you notice any damage — even to the outer packaging — note it clearly on the receipt before signing, then contact us immediately with photos. Do not refuse the delivery unless the table is completely destroyed; partial damage is almost always resolved with replacement parts rather than a full return shipment. We handle the freight claim process alongside you and will make it right within the 180-day warranty window.
